Let's back Blake!

Blake Henrichs, a freshman at Altoona High School, is an avid outdoorsman who has a huge heart for hunting and fishing.  Blake also enjoys athletics and is a big fan of LeBron James.  

Blake was diagnosed with a Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a group of inherited disorders characterized by progressive vision loss and night vision loss, that can lead to central vision loss and progress to a person being legally blind.  

Blake is diagnosed as legally blind caused by the severity of RP that he is diagnosed with.  

Blake has undergone extensive tests at U of M Fairview, along with occupational and mobility therapy for low vision.  Mobility therapy will continue for years to come, as he continues to deal with the challenges of low vision and learns to accommodate to changes in the vision he has left.  

The goal with therapy is to help Blake function as independently as possible and help prepare him for his future.
